It's been like forever since we've posted here, with this crazy weather our internet has been off and on. We even had a 4.0 earthquake a few weeks ago! We have had tremendous amounts of lighting and thunder along with a very wet summer! What a busy year it's been, can't believe it's already mid-September.
We are processing chickens this coming weekend on the 16th of September. $5 per lb, weights are around 4-7 lbs. We are taking orders for fresh chickens – otherwise all will be frozen. This will be our last batch of chicken for 2023. Pick up will be on the 17th for fresh birds. We have been putting up fence a lot this summer, we fenced in over 15 acres of newly seeded fields for our livestock. We also put in a few woven wire winter pens and countless gates. The alfalfa/trefoil and grasses are coming in very nicely with the very wet summer we have had. Introducing two doelings that will be held over as yearlings going into 2024. Zizi is from a set of quads and Suzy is from an FF that had triplets, that’s almost unheard of! Both girls are pushing 100lbs and are developing very nicely. Lovely confirmation in both - will be posting pictures of them soon! Super thrilled to be working with these genetics! ROAMING ACRES CM ZIZI ZARIYAH - N002293807 (PB Doe) ROAMING ACRES DBD PP SUZY - N002293801 (PB Doe) Reservations now available on 2024 kids! We had two little calves born, one heifer and one bull. Cookie is the heifer calf and the bull, now a steer is future beef. We got a year-old heifer she is a little skittish but we are visiting her often so she gets calmer/friendlier around people. Milk production is slowing down for the year, we are starting to breed back now for next year's kids so it will be nice to have a little milk vacation. We have been working on a bunch of other projects but I’ll save that for next time!! Stop out and visit the farm and pickup some of your favourite fall products!
